ACORAB Nepal and BBC Media Action jointly conducted a five days radio broadcast technical training from 20th Dec 2015 to 24th Dec 2015 in Dharan on Radio Broadcast for community radios of Eastern Development Region. The training was focused on practical and basic skills and insights that are required to deal with common technical problem of a radio station.
The training was a part of ACORAB Nepal and BBC media action’s capacity building for community radios and staffs through enhancing technical skills of technicians from all member radio stations. Altogether 29 participants from 28 community radio station across the Eastern Development Region participated in the program. Among 29 participants in the training 4 of them were women. The training course covered topics related to IT in broadcast, studio equipment, studio wiring, FM transmitter, earthing, surge protector devices, electrical wiring, backup system and urban solar photo voltaic system. This training provided more time for practical session, where participants learned to measure all the electrical as well as electronics devices by using multi-meter. They were taught about audio cable and connectors soldering and preparing studio cable in a technically appropriate manner. ACORAB Nepal and BBC Media Action provided digital multi-meter, soldering iron rod, cutter, plier, screw, wire stripper to each participants for their basic studio propose.
Mr. Radeep Maharjan, Sr.Technical Officer from ACORAB Nepal and Mr. Giriraj Niraula, Technician from Radio Nepal facilitated the training. At the end of the training, participants made a commitment to share their knowledge with their colleagues upon their return and to improve level of technical quality at their stations.
