Positive Change through inclusive reporting

Community Radios contribute to social change by providing a platform to participate in improving a community's quality of life. This empowerment is achieved when communities understand that issues related to basic needs are inspired to preserve and promote their cultural identities.

No social change is possible without the active participation of both professional radio personnel and the emotions and stories of the community. These stories and practices are so diverse that it is not possible for a few radio journalists to collect, document and broadcast.

CIN spearheaded a change in how information is collected, disseminated and received by facilitating and helping community radios to initiate volunteer-led campaigns. Community members including adolescents, women, mother’s groups and influential members of society such as teachers and health workers were encouraged to identify and document local issue-based stories.
