World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC)-Asia Pacific Committee Board member visited the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) Nepal’s secretariat office in Lalitpur, Nepal. During the visit, a sharing meeting is organized between delegates, board members and senior staffs of ACORAB and AMARC-AP Secretariat Office. The agenda of the meeting was to share the accomplishments of community radio broadcasting sector in Nepal and discuss about existing challenges. In addition, meeting has also incorporated sharing about provisions related to community radios in recently developed National Media Policy by the Government of Nepal as prominent agenda of the meeting. Besides, ACORAB Nepal has shared expectation of Nepalese community radio broadcasters from AMARC to enhance the community radio sector.
Mr. Subas Khatiwada, President of ACORAB Nepal appreciated AMARC-AP’s support to earthquake affected community radios in his welcome remarks. Dr. RC Lamichhane, Executive Director of ACORAB Nepal presented about success stories of community radios and present challenges. In a presentation, Mr. Lamichhane informed guests about recently developed national media policy as greatest achievement of community radios as an outcome of continuous lobby and advocacy of ACORAB.This joint-meeting was attended by Mr. Ashish Sen, Advisor- AMARC-AP from India, Mr. Ramnath Bhat, President- AMARC-AP from India, Mr. AHN Byoung Cheon from South Korea, Mr. Imam Prakoso from Indonesia, Mr. Junichi Hibino form Japan, Ms. Nimmi Chauhan, AMARC-WIN from India, and Ms. Sharon B Rolls from Fiji.
