Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) Nepal has conducted three basic training programs on business journalism for journalists of seven Eastern districts. Seventy journalists were trained on writing business news stories with emphasis on major four value chain products of this region. Trainings were organized by ACORAB Nepal as part of its project on “Advocacy and Awareness for contributing business enabling environment on four value chain” which is supported by International Labor Organization (ILO) under UNNATI Project.
ACORAB through its member radio stations has announced a call for participation via local radios and national radio network CIN. Trainees selected through fair selection process with due consideration of past performance. Mr. Modnath Dhakal, Former General Secretary of SEJON (Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal) has facilitated all three basic business journalism training programs.
Each training was two-day long which comprised 20-30 journalists from two of seven project districts. First training was attended by participants of Dhankuta and Sankhuwasabha districts. Subsequent training has consisted participants of Bhojpur and Terahthum districts. Afterwards, a training is conducted for thirty journalists of Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung districts.
