ACORAB has organized a sharing meeting with national non-governmental organizations on June 24, 2015. Senior officials of seventeen organizations were present at the meeting. This meeting is intended to discuss possible activities for collaboration to expand and enhance the impact through radio communication channel.
Meeting was started with the brief presentation about ACORAB and its activities by RC Lamichhane, Executive Director of ACORAB. Meeting participants admired the role of community radio stations for their active roles to make people aware and informed.
They have shared that currently NGOs are working with certain numbers of local community radios at the district level and interested to collaborate with ACORAB to reach out broader scale of beneficiaries through CIN.
Participants expressed their willingness to collaborate on social issues such as transparency, accountability, budget utilization, land rights, social taboos and issues of child, women, dalits. Likewise, some organizations were interested to jointly work with ACORAB to promote local perspective in rehabilitation and reconstruction at the post disaster situation.
Furthermore, interest was also shown for capacity strengthening of radio journalist on thematic issues such as child rights, land rights etc.
As well, participant suggested to have information sharing between their filed workers and radio journalist at local level about their observations.
