World Radio Day 2023
Association of Community Radio Broadcasters' Nepal (ACORAB) in collaboration with UNESCO-Kathmandu, AMARC Asia Pacific and ICRN jointly organized a program and celebrated the 12th World Radio Day 2023 on 13th February 2023 in Kathmandu. The theme of Radio Day 2023 was Radio and Peace. The program was chaired by the Chairperson of ACORAB Mr. Arjun Giri. Honorable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel was the chief Guest of the program. Honourable Urmila Aryal-Deputy Speaker House of Representative, Honorable Lily Thapa-Member of National Human Rights Commission, Mr.Michael Croft-Head of UNESCO Kathmandu and Mr. Subash Khatiwada-Vice chairperson of AMARC asia pacific were the guests in the program and provided remarks on the World Radio Day 2023. The program participants were the radio broadcasters, marginalized community members, policy makers, human rights defenders and civil society organizations.
Interaction program on the occasion of World Radio Day 2023
On the occasion of World Radio Day 2023, Association of Community Radio Broadcasters' (ACORAB) Nepal organized an interactive discussion session on 13th February 2023. In the session executive director of ACORAB Nepal presented on the role of radio in conflict prevention and a culture of peace. The session was closely observed by the five commentators from diverse professional background and provided their remarks. The commentators were Dr. Pitambar Bhandari, Programme Coordinator-Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies, Mr.Dev Sunuwar-ICRN, Ms. Shova Humagain-radio journalist from Radio Roshi, Ms. Sumitra Lama-radio listener from Kavre, Ms. Mimansha Dhungel-radio listener (St.Xaviers College) and Ms. Kripa Aryal-radio listener (St.Xaviers College. The commentators shared the role of radio in Nepal for the political, social and economic transformation. Radio has been one of the most trusted means of information dissemination from many decades and is continuing the mission of communication. Commentators pointed that the radio in this day should be for everyone around. It should bring out the voices of senior citizens, youths and children of rural to urban areas for the radio ownership.
