First national community radio journalists’ conference is concluded on Sunday in Kathmandu by producing a Kathmandu declaration paper. Total one hundred ten participants were present in the conference. Community radio journalists, media researchers, academicians, development communication practitioners and community radio activists have participated in the conference. President of ACORAB Mr. Mohan Chapagain chaired the inauguration session of the conference and Honorable Information and Communication Minister Mr. Sherdhan Rai inaugurated the conference.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yuvraj Khatiwada - Vice-president of National Planning Commission, Dr. Som Lal Subedi - Chief Secretary of Government of Nepal, Ms. Ranju Thakur - Chairperson of the Women, Children, Social Welfare and Senior Citizen Committee, Ms. Yasodha Timilsina – Commissioner of National Information Committee and Mr. Min Bahadur Shahi, Deputy President of AMARC (World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters) have participated in plenary and panel sessions of the conference.
Likewise, Prof. P. Kharel - Senior Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism, Mr. Bharat Pokhrel – Development Expert and Ms. Saru Joshi - Gender Expert were other key note speakers. In addition, Dr. Suresh Acharya - Senior Journalists and Media Academician, Mr. Nirmal Rijal - Development Communication Expert, Ms. Deepa Gautam – Media Researcher, Mr. Hari Sharan Lamichhane- Senior Radio Journalists, Mr. Jitendra Raut – Senior Radio Journalist and Mr. Dhirendra Premarshi – Senior Radio Journalists have participated in the conference as panelists of various sessions. Also, Mr. Shivaji Gayak, Mr. Kishor Jung Thapa and Mr. Subash Khatiwada have represented ACORAB as speakers in different sessions of the conference.
