Senior Program Producer of Community Information Network is awarded with Child sensitive journalism Prize in Kathmandu on Friday. Central Child Welfare Committee in association with Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) has distributed prize on child sensitive journalism to Ms. Laxmi Basnet of CIN in the radio journalism category.
Ms. Basnet has been working at Community Information Network-CIN for last eight years. This network is operated by the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) as the network of 300 community radios spread in all 75 districts of Nepal. Likewise, other journalists including Ms. Ramkala Khadka from Annapurna Post (Print Media), Ms. Salina Upreti and Ms. Sanskriti Chalise from Television were also awarded from the Kathmandu Valley.
Altogether 9 journalist from local and Kathmandu valley were awarded with 25 thousand individually. Dr. Mahendra Bista, President of FNJ, Mr. Khagraj Baral, Secretary of Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Mr. Tarak Dhital, Director of Central Child Welfare Committee and Ms. Babina Shrestha, President of Central Child Welfare Committee have praised contribution of awarded journalists for the promotion of child sensitive journalism. Besides, Mr. Bir Bahadur Rai, General Director of Information Department and Mr. Subas Khatiwada, President of Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) Nepal were present in the program.
