Ninth Annual General Meeting of Association of Community Broadcasters, Nepal and fifth National Convention of Nepalese community radios has been concluded. The convention was inaugurated by Right Honourable Mr. Khil Raj Regmi, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Nepal on 11 August 2013. The convention and the meeting has approved the institutional performance report, financial report along with the audit report and report of the Account Committee. The Convention endorsed the Annual Work Plan of the Association and adopted a new Institutional Vision Paper to guide the upcoming five years strategic plan. The prior two reports were presented to the meeting by General Secretary Mr. Khem Bhandari, Treasurer Mr. Subas Khatiwada on behalf of the Executive Board and the later report was presented by Coordinator Mr. Loknath Subedi on behalf of Account Committee.
The vision paper approved by the meeting includes the direction to the upcoming five years plan, among others, advocacy, campaignand classification on community radios. Advocacy includes rationale licensing grid, separate policy and upgrading the quality of radio service through promotion of ethical practices. Campaign includes good governance and right to information, social justice, and natural environment conservation and classification includes classification of the radio based on their theme- based radio services. The meeting has approved annual programme of the Association for fiscal year 2013-14.
