The Government of Nepal has formed work force of eight members to provide suggestion focused on improving law for regulating, operating and managing community radios. According to the decision made by Information and Communication Minister on February 5, 2014 work force was formed. The work force formed on the chairmanship of Mr. Umakant Parajuli (Chief Vice-Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communication, Department of the Information) consist of Mr. Mohan Chapagain (President of ACORAB Nepal), Mr. Min Bahadur Shahi (Immediate Past President of ACORAB Nepal) and Mr. Tapanath Shukla, two representatives from Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) and Mr. Anup Nepal (Technical Vice-Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communication Department of the Frequency) are the members of work force. The Member-Secretary of the work force is Mr. Phadindra Gautam (Ministry of Information and Communication, Law Officer). The team will suggest necessary changes on law in terms of community radios within one month of starting work to Ministry of Information and Communication.
On January 13, 2014 ACORAB Nepal had submitted Memorandum of Understanding to Information and Communication Minister Mr. Madhav Poudel to generate Governments attention towards development and promotion of community radios. Mr. Matrika Poudel (Press Advisor for Information and Communication Minister) had reported that, for the management of nationwide network of community radio Government of Nepal has started amendment of National Broadcasting Regulation 2052 and has formed necessary work force.
