Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal (ACORAB) concluded its 10th Annual General Assembly in Charikot of Dolakha district on September 4, 2014 (Bhadra 18, 2070 BS.) with the main slogan "Community Radio for Positive Societal Transformation"; Total 250 representatives from community radio all over the country have participated in the program. The program had two sessions including inaugural and closed session. Three former Prime Ministers of the country Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sher Bahadur Deuba and Mr. Jhalanath Khanal jointly inaugurated by lighting the Paanas and addressed the mass with the keynote speech. Three of them have agreed on the important roles of community radio for Positive Societal Transformation of Nepalese Rural Communities. They also expressed their commitment for enduring support to community radio from political arena. They also assured to pilot the parliament for the prospective laws, acts and policies. There were more than 20 speakers belonging to diverse sectors. All of the speakers explained about the positive roles of community radios for optimistic communal renovation. Mr. Mohan Chapagain, the chairperson of the ACORAB Nepal addressed to all guests and delegates and highlighted on major achievement made by ACORAB in a welcome note. He further explained about the plans of ACORAB. Mr. Kishor Jung Thapa, the senior vice president expressed the vote of gratitude to all concerned people and agencies. Mr. Govinda Devkota the Secretary General of ACORAB facilitated the program. People from different lifestyles who had supported to organize this program in Charikot, were felicitated by the chief guests.
The Closed Session of the program approved the organizational report, financial report and report of Community of Finance, with amendment submitted by Secretary General, Treasurer and Coordinator of Finance committee respectively. The chairperson, Secretary General, Treasurer and Coordinator of Finance committee answered the questions heaved by the participants. They also integrated in the consistent suggestions given by the participants. The session concluded with the Charikot Declaration. Mr. Min Bahadur Shahi and his team prepared the pronouncement and submitted to the house endorsing the declaration unanimously.
The participants of program found the program chronological and fruitful. The program was effectively able to connect all members in Positive Societal Transformation vision while the energy for further betterment was widely circulated. It has further stretched the scope of Community Radios bridging the Positive Societal Transformation. The local people of Charikot also articulated their gratitude to ACORAB for organizing this notable program in their hometown. ACORAB is very indebted to Charikot for this instrumental environment in the decentralized delegation practice.
