In collaboration with ABU, AMARC and UNICEF, ACORAB Nepal organized four days program on Saving Lives: Preparing for Disasters form 20-23 July, 2015 in Kathmandu. The first day was consultation meeting with government and non-governmental organisations involved in disaster warnings and disaster management. Representative of Red Cross, UNICEF, CBM, SEEDS and department of Hydrology and Meteorology shared their experienced on it.
Three days of program, exclusively focused on training for community radio journalist. It mainly focused on how to prepared community radio stations for disasters and on practical programme production training. In the training program, AMARC shared manual prepared on disaster preparedness for community radio stations. During the training program, participants also visited department of Hydrology and Meteorology office, NSET and Jhagagholi, Ratmata, Sindhuli and prepared radio report.
The training program was facilitated by Ms Natalia Ilieva, Executive Secretary, ABU, Mr. Nam – ABU, Russell and Mr. Suman Basnet, Regional Coordinator, AMARC. 21 community radio journalist of 14 districts were participated.
